The West Virginia's Open for Business Statewide Student Business Plan Competition launches this month, a bigger and better version of a West Virginia University event.

"The WVU Entrepreneurship Center has hosted the business plan competition for WVU students for the past four years, and it's been really successful," said Interim Director Mindy Walls.

The competition has awarded more than $80,000 in cash and business startup services, she said.

But the real success is measured in businesses that are successfully begun or grown. Those include K. Lianna Accessory Design from the 2004 competition, Andrew White Guitars in 2005 and Y Not Solutions in 2006.
